Error in firebase

I have an error while running the code on my VS Code. I installed firebase (npm install firebase) and I did the configuration. When I run, this error pops up. (./src/firebase.js
Module not found: Can’t resolve ‘firebase’ in ‘/Users/jkkay/Desktop/IBERA-Project/ibera/src’). what shall i do? i tried un-intsalling and installing firebase package more than 10 times. i tried globally and in the vs code program. nothing is working and i keep getting the error above. please help
