Is the .science Registry a shady business?

I would like to obtain a .science domain for project I am working on. I have however read many bad things about it. Apparently their domains were used a lot for spam (although that’s a while back now). The company is based in Gibraltar, which is known to be a dodgy tax haven. It gives the whole .science domains a shady and dubious image.

The thing is, I want my project to be as clean as possible, done in a way as transparent, reputable and serious as possible. Do you think it would be a mistake getting a .science domain?

I have really found _the_ perfect .science domain name for my project and haven’t come up with a better one in the past years I’ve been planing and working on this. So I’m really leaning towards getting this domain.

What are your thoughts?

So what lead you to think a non-premium TLD is good for this? It's not. Use .com, .net, .org

@petboobauthorJul 16.2020 — @Nachfolger#1619574 What do you mean with "premium TLD"? Are you talking about .com, .net, etc.? The reason I want this .science domain is because I have found a good combination which describes well what I'm doing. I don't think unusual domain endings necessarily speak against a clean and transparent project. I don't see a problem in this. The question is just: Is the .science Registry shady? I would love to hear about people's experience with it. If it really is a dubious thing, it will obviously speak against using it.

@VITSUSAJul 17.2020 — @petboob#1619570 The purpose of domain name is to remind about your business or website easily. So domain name should be easy. If you provide relevant and important things in your website then you can easily achieve your target.

For example - There are so many websites who don't have their relevant domain name but they are famous due to their quality works.
