Creating an external Dashboard that connects to a WordPress website.

Good Day!

I am working on a e-commerce project for a friend and would like to try out to and learn about replicating the following features:

STORY: I came across this company who has two websites that they use, namely:

  • 1.

    purpletag.com – This is the ‘front end’ e-commerce website (we don’t sell anything here as this serves as our online catalog only

  • 2.

    master.purpletag.com – this opens to an access restricted dashboard that seems to be connected
    to the website’s database (or vise versa). the product administrators and sales personnel actually uses this to add and manipulate product information from images to prices.

    • Could anybody help me on how this could be achieved? I goggled it but I have not come across a website with information that is ‘digestible’ to me.

    I apologize if my terminologies seem very generic; I do not have prior coding experience but I am willing to learn just to replicated something similar to that feature.

    @NogDogJun 11.2018 — One way would be to set up a vhosts file (assuming Apache web server?) with a Directory setting that points to a different web root directory for the "master" sub-domain than that used for the "www" (or no) sub-domain.
