Need to Find Images Matches in Search

Is the following do-able in JavaScript?

I have a website with numerous pages of thumbnail images linked to full-size images. I want each of the images to be classfied by one or more keywords and for a user to be able to click on a list of the keywords and be able to call up thumbnails with the keywords requested.

Thus the user will see a page (or multiple pages) of thumbnails. They will then have the choice of clicking on a thumbnail to see the full-sized version of the image or of going to the page from which the thumbnail came.

How do I do this?
