Trying to combine 2 scripts into 1

Hello I am using dreamweaver and firworks to produce my poetry website so i am very javascript illiterate I made a simple java menue in fireworks and i found a custom pop up window maker at Dynamic Drive and I found that the 2 sets of code dont work at all with each other i want to make them into 1 working script. When i test the page in the browser I hit my link and the pop up window doesnt occur a new blank internet page pops up is there for 3 seconds and then automatically closes itself out. any help is apreciated.
