@dandowneyDec 21.2017 — The 404 error means the webpage is not valid or the links of the page is not found in the server. so that will affect the all your SEO efforts of webpage. If you want to keep best ranking for your webpage or website, you must fix this error.

@rootDec 21.2017 — a 404 error indicates that the page does not exist, this happens when a page has a typo in the name or the link to it (most likely) and you have to look at the location reference, have you got the relative paty? if not then you need to turn the path in to a path that is relative to the site root as your path may be wrong.

If you want to look at something like a URL rewriter to control the 404 problem by redirection to a control page to report the error rather than a 404 error end up being repeatedly flagged on the server, you get some feedback of what went wrong and give yourself a much more indepth view of the data under the hood over a 404 page error telling you sorry mate, can't find it...

@efusionworldDec 30.2017 — The typical trigger for an error 404 message is when website content has been removed or moved to another URL. There are also other reasons why an error message could appear. These include:

* The URL or its content (such as files or images) was either deleted or moved (without adjusting any internal links accordingly)

*
The URL was written incorrectly (during the creation process or a redesign), linked incorrectly, or typed into the browser incorrectly

* The server responsible for the website is not running or the connection is broken

*
The requested domain name can’t be converted to an IP by the domain name system (DNS)

* The entered domain name doesn’t exist (anymore)

@nesirDec 31.2017 — 404 are called a soft error , in that google realises that on occasion websites will have 404 during their lifespan. I have not seen it effect seo until it gets over 40 errors on google web master tools. Secondly from a user perspective , its not great running into 404s you will get a increased bounce rate which will effect your seo. So indirectly one 404 can effect your seo. If you cant get rid if them directly make sure you have a custom 404 page, it helps some in terms of user experience on your website, google recognises this. Ideally you should try to get rid of them. You could also create redirects to pages that actually exist, too many redirects however is also not a good thing .

@nesirDec 31.2017 — I meant to say you get a soft 404 and a 404....Either way what i said in the post still applies.

@rootJan 02.2018 — You said in your post...... for one url facebook has banned us ...[/QUOTE]
and after reading it again much slower, I now understand the problem and this is YET ANOTHER non SEO issue.

Your issue is FACEBOOK are under orders from various governments (including its own) to clean its act up, stop allowing fakers, fake news, spam, spammers, hate and so on. So your sit is banned because facebook have assessed you as being a faker.

And facebook has no control over your server pages but has control over its redirection. So you shouldn't be spamming should you?

So I think that wraps this up, mystery solved, nothing to see, move along please....

Success!
