BTJ: Page Transitions

hi, ive decided to get back to javascript (hence the BTJ in title ?), i want to make a transition effect for a page a custom one really not sure what its going to be like,

how would you guys go about creating one, for example you go to a page, with this script on and it loads another page in the background lets say google, the original page has a link on it saying next page which would call the javascript function and the page would change using the transition effect coded

how would i do one that starts at the center of the page and goes out in all directions to the edge

i know about the meta tags and that but i dont think they have an effect for this, and it only works in ie ?
