@masonsilasMay 16.2017 — “Why Everyone Should Be Moving To HTTP/2,” it was meant to bring awareness to an awesome protocol upgrade that I thought was an easy win to make a website faster.

@brad_jonesMay 16.2017 — Security alone is quite a benefit. In addition, HTTPS sites tend to have referring data in URLs retained when linking. Additionally, Google prefers HTTPS over HTTP, so you are likely to get an SEO advantage. If you site has a registration or login (an INPUT field), then if you don't use HTTPS, your users are likely to get a warning if they are using a current browser.

@jay5rMay 16.2017 — All of what Brad said are true and important. I'd just add that it's a "do unto others" sorta thing. HTTPS reduces your user's online footprint. People who may be snooping on your users will still see the site they're going to, but not the content. Not what they submit to the sites, etc. Even the most innocuous things can be used against people, so the smallest possible online footprint is a good thing.

And I'd add that if you add Strict Transport (HSTS), then it's much harder for anyone to forge your site.

So I'd reduce it down to 1) protecting your users, 2) making life difficult for the bad guys and 3) making your site a difficult target.

@ZorgMay 20.2017 — Bottom line if you're handling, transferring or transmitting sensitive data online then SSL is a must.

I would never fill out a form or send an email with my personal or sensitive info if the site has no SSL cert.

@Kereana_KMay 22.2017 — The main benefits of HTTPS are that it makes your site more secure for your users as well as for search traffic. You never dump the intention of switching to HTTPS.

@RosaJBrassellMay 22.2017 — Difference between HTTP and HTTPS (Secure) is: HTTP website doesn't encrypt its content over Internet, in contrast, HTTPS does. HTTPS avoid users from sensitive data stolen like username, password, visa card, etc.
