Transparent Gradient on Left and Right of Div

I have searched for a couple days on how to do this and hope someone on this forum can help.

I need to have the contents of a div fade from 0% opacity on the left side to 100% in the middle and back to 0% on the right.

This div contains a slider, and the effect would be that the chosen item is in the middle and completely visible, but as the slider moves the elements fade out on either side.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
