Which programming language do you recommend?

Greetings!

I am 17 years old and working with C, i have not completed this language but i am very closed. Before i go to my college (if im going to make it) i want to learn more languages, specifically HTML because i want to make my own site sometime (how i have heard, HTML use php and sql in her code). Its better to make your own code for your site in spite of use other site to make your own site (like wtf). I dont know if i am ready to learn that kind of language, its better to learn another one first, stay with C(? ) or just go for HTML?

HTML is the foundation of all Web Pages/Sites. Get a very good understanding of the Foundation's Cornerstone (HTML) and you will be very well off in all the other complimentary languages (CSS, JavaScript, PHP, etc..). Take your time and learn it, breathe it, live it before moving into the others. My take on your pondering ...

Excellent start.

@NogDogFeb 12.2017 — Just to be clear: HTML is not a programming language. It is a text mark-up specification. It is definitely something you need to know if working with web development, but it won't teach you anything about programming.

@TalhamanzoorFeb 21.2017 — Its not necessary that we would recommend you a specific programming language. you should learn the basic concept of programming, you should start from html css then you can move to php or other languages. try to w3school, its a best resource of programming learning. in last i would recommend you a bootstrap. now a days its up to the sky due to mobile design.

@SBebbersFeb 21.2017 — Hi,

If you want to work in web development, you should know:

Valid* HTML 5,

CSS 3,

client-side JavaScript (including jQuery),

and a server-side language (or a language that will run on servers) such as C# or PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor. I recommend PHP 7 if you go for the PHP option.

C#, PHP and JavaScript have many similarities to C although C# and JavaScript are considered Object Orientated Programming (OOP) languages (according to the Internet these are not pure OO).

Good luck,

Shaun.

*I say valid HTML 5; many web developers do not care about this, but from experience it is easier to use APIs like jQuery with valid HTML than it is with invalid HTML. There may or may not be arbitrary and alleged Search Engine Optimization (SEO) benefits from non-valid HTML but your SEO ranking will probably be better achieved by other means.

@MobilespyFeb 23.2017 — its not a good thing to be limited with only one programming language and learning one language will make it easy to learn others , so you should learn the basics of all of them and you find a lot of similarities.

if you already know the basics of all of them, i recommend java since it is intended to let developers "write once, run anywhere", meaning that code that runs on one platform does not need to be recompiled to run on another. and it is one of the most popular programming languages in use.

@markwarnerFeb 28.2017 — First of all learn & clear all the basic fundamentals of programming. I recommended for w3school site it's a best place to learn basic to advance HTML, CSS, Mysql and PHP fundamentals.

@SBebbersFeb 28.2017 — I'm agnostic to W3Schools, although there is this site that has been around for a while; others have raised interesting points about that particular site pointing out some obvious and not so obvious issues with it. I guess the point is to always cross-reference as there may be a better explanation and solution elsewhere regardless of the language or framework etc...

Shaun.

NogDog already made this point earlier in the thread, but it's worth repeating. Also note that PHP scripting isn't coding; coding is low-level binary, hexadecimal or machine code, and at the level that the CPU can compute and process. There are usually many layers of abstraction between the CPU and your high-level scripts, even in supposedly low level languages such as C.

As some others may have pointed out above, HTML and CSS do not constitute programming as PHP, C#, Java or JavaScript would. I'm not saying that it's not important to know these computer languages, but mark-up and styling is a very different thing to programming.

Shaun.

@iQlanceApr 13.2017 — If you are serious about thinking that Latin would be a good precursor to learning other languages, then I would recommend that you learn, word-press development, or Ruby on rail development, because of it will help you to give best load time solution.
