[RESOLVED] Image Optimization Help Needed

I need help improving my website load speed. I currently score 33/100 and would like to up that score as much as possible but it seems that image optimization is the biggest problem that I face.

My site is hosted on Blue Host with WordPress integration if that information is useful.

If you click the link below, you will see my score sheet, perhaps this can give someone a better insight to my issue?

If anyone has any questions, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help, it’s truly appreciated!

Jimmy

@TrainJan 27.2017 — Got a url to your site? Post it.

@jimmyfpaulauthorJan 27.2017 — Sure, it's www.bettinardi.com

I used WP Smush to help with the optimization but it really didn't seem to help very much. I'm re-running it again as we speak.

Thanks,

Jimmy

@deepakrajputJan 27.2017 — you need to ALT tag for image optimization.

@Kevin2Jan 27.2017 — 1) Go to https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bettinardi.com&tab=desktop

2) Click on the link in this sentence: "Download optimized image, JavaScript, and CSS resources for this page." (It's underneath the Passed Rules)

3) Unzip the file you receive

4) Open the "image" folder

5) Move/upload/etc. those optimized images to the appropriate folder(s) on your site.

Can't get much easier than that since Google is doing the hard work for you (the actual optimization).

@jimmyfpaulauthorJan 27.2017 — Thanks! Would it work if I uploaded the images to my WordPess media library in my dashboard and replace them on the appropriate areas in my WP site or do I have to actually go into the source folders?

Thanks again,

Jimmy

@Kevin2Jan 27.2017 — Actually I don't know. I never have, and never will use Wordpress. Perhaps a Wordpress guru will come along and have the answer for you.

@TrainJan 28.2017 — Took a lok and wonder if some of the errors found are causing problems.

HTML - 14

https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fbettinardi.com%2F

CSS- Errors (592) Warnings (2876)

https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fbettinardi.com%2F&profile=css3&usermedium=all&warning=1&vextwarning=&lang=en

And of coarse the 32+ seconds load time means lot of folks will leave as it is taking more than 10 seconds to load.

@rootJan 28.2017 — Besides load errors, image size (data) is an issue, people often upload images as they are without taking the time to process them like stripping out the overheads like DPI reduction, it is possible to first requce the physical window size to that which you are needing, you then reduce the pallet to what is needed and then reduce the DPI to anywhere between 72 to 76 DPI (set to a setting that does not introduce artifacts) so that you images can be as small as possible.

It is possible to take a regular 6MB image and turn it in to a 13kB image with hard compression and retain enough detail and image size to be useful. The image I uploaded was originally 7.0MB and its now... 83.4kB (showing as 81.5KB on this site).

Every little thing you can do to reduce the amount of data that is needed to be sent to get your page displayed helps, as well as fixing the errors, your other concern is the server your site is on... if its near to saturation point, this can be because of demand on your site or general demand for all domains served from that server, the response and delivery times will be reduced and if they are not, speak to the host and get them to move your domain to another of their servers citing your terms of service that they say that they will deliver because its likely that they have too many domains parked on one server...

It is one of the most overlooked elements of hosting, web hosts don't want to have up and running all their servers unless they have to, its a cost benefit to them if they can cram 1000 domains on one server than running two servers with 500 on each server...

@TrainJan 28.2017 — Check the attachment

Your 41 .js are killing you time wise.

And the number of css is not helping any either.

@rootJan 28.2017 — Having had a peak under the hood, why are you loading so many JQuery libraries? CSS libraries? You have so much scripting in addition that I am guessing that one single JQuery library will be able to do the rendering work, most of the CSS your loading up is pointless.

You should consider optimising the page code to only be loading what you need for that page to load and render.

My opinion is that your landing page is over bloated with many libraries that are creating the bottleneck.

@jimmyfpaulauthorJan 29.2017 — Thanks! Site seems to be loading much faster now. Thank you all for your help!

I certainly hope to help on this board in the future, you'll are an amazing resource, so helpful.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

@TrainJan 29.2017 — Load time is 21 seconds. Do not expect many folks to return.

@hariandro001Feb 01.2017 — Use alt tag or use wordpress and google webmaster tool for image optimisation..
