Add picture name to cell as text?

Hello everybody, I’m new here (and resonably new to HTML).
I’m trying to put together a page with a load of thumbnails in it that link to various movie files. I’m using Dreamweaver and would like some help with the following:

Is there a way to get HTML to take the name of the picture file in cell ‘a’ and place it as text in cell ‘b’. Then remove the .jpg file extension?
Any help with this would be really useful. I tried a google search or two but couldn’t find anything useful.

ta,
jbw

@Aronya1May 28.2004 — Welcome to the forums, jbw. Unfortunately, the answer to your very first question is, No. HTML is basically layout code, and doesn't do any sort of processing. What you want can probably be done with javascript, though, so you might want to post the question in that forum. Good luck.

@jbwauthorMay 29.2004 — Thanks for replying Aronya1. Seems I've got this a little wrong. I'll go dig out that copy of the Javascript bible in the office next door and see if I can work this out. I'll post in the other forum if I run into trouble! ?
