Obviously. Still many more web directories are accepting your website submission and giving backlinks to your website. But post your website only on good domain authority websites.
So I was doing some research and it got me thinking. As a SEO/Digital Marketing Professional, what do you think about Web Directories as a long term SEO Development strategy? Looking at the fact that Yahoo, being the world's most popular Directory during its time shut down their directory last year (thanks to Google), do you think it is Effective or Not?

Yes, directories are still useful, but not all of them. The truth is that most of the directories out there are spammy and of very low quality. You should stay away from all those.
