Need help with a website idea

I want to make a website where if you was to put a video clip into it (That the user uploads) it would add an effect onto it, like something i make in after effects and it would automatically add it onto it. Sounds weird but yeah its just a little personal project. I havent ever made anything like this before and I cant find any tutorials online about it either and I was just wondering if anyone out there would just give me an idea on what to look for. Im not asking for you to make a tutorial or anything but what that would actually be called, so i can look for a tutorial myself.

Thanks ?

@CappaGinoSep 25.2016 — Try Video Manipulation ?

From that I got two links one from Mozilla and one from HTML 5 Doctor. Both combining the Video Element with the Canvas Element.

@whmcssmartersOct 03.2016 — Hi, I think first you have to search websites similar to your idea, it helps to understand the whole concept. You can search online video making sites, online video effects etc. That will definitely helps to work on your idea.

@rtretheweyOct 04.2016 — There are few web-based tools for video editing, and it's not surprising. Video is such a resource-intensive area that it doesn't lend itself to current online environments. At a start, for example, video files are generally so large that you need to have a dedicated server (or at least a robust Virtual Private Server) just to have the capacity to allow users to upload them without running into timeouts and memory issues. And providing even the simplest interface to allow the user to pick spots in his video to apply whatever services you offer would require a lot of memory on the server and exceptional bandwidth on the user's end to keep the process from being glacially slow.

My advice would be to continue to explore this project, but don't put a lot of effort into it until the practicalities of the situation make more sense. In the meantime, you could look at creating a similar service for stills/graphics. That way you could learn about how such things work online and prepare yourself for your ultimate goal of working with video. Good luck!
