Developing website or Ecommerce tools

Hi everyone,

Have a brief question, hoping to gain your experties.

Im currently starting up a small company and will be focusing on a monthly subscription based e-commerce.

I have no experiences in the tech field and wanted to see in your opinion what is the better option
1. Having someone developing my personal website.
2. Using online tools for example Shopify.

The concerns i am having is, using my own website
-What are the issues I may experience, and as a technology caveman, will i be able to handle it.
-Are there regular maintenance that is required.
