How do you open an HTML/JS/CSS local file in new EDGE browser?

This may be a stupid question, but without an answer I’m stuck in the mud.

When you develop a HTML/JS/CSS program on your local computer prior to publishing it on the web, how do you open the file from the new Windows 10 Edge browser?

Ctrl-O does not appear to work for me.
Is there some other command I’m missing? ?

@jedaisoulSep 11.2016 — I do not understand the question. What application us running when you press Ctl O? And how is this a JavaScript issue?

Anyway, if I want to run a local version of a web page, I either click on the file in Explorer (assuming the file association is set up correctly) or set up a shortcut to explicitly launch the desired browser and web page. The latter allows me to test in multiple different browsers.

Not a JS issue per-se, just cannot load/run/debug a JS script in Edge if I cannot load it. Seems like a lot of extra steps to exit browser, load the file explorer, choose the file and pre-associate the browser I wish to use with that file.

In all other browsers I have tried, I can load a file from the browser with the 'ctrl-o' combination, but not in the Windows 10 browser. Am I the only one having a problem doing this?

@Kevin2Sep 11.2016 — Works for me:
•
Left-click HTML file to "highlight" it

  •
Right click HTML file

  •
From context menu hover on Open With >

  •
Choose Microsoft Edge

  •
@Kevin2Sep 12.2016 — Forgot to preface the answer with this:

Instructions above are for when you have the folder open in Windows Explorer.

You are correct in that it seems there is no Ctrl+O or File>Open functions in Edge, nor any way to replicate the behavior of those commands.

Pardon my French, but that seems like a very stupid oversight.

Changes operations of keys of OS since inception!

    Thanks for the response.

@Kevin2Sep 13.2016 — Ya. Even Chrome has gotten into that act. In recent versions the Backspace key no longer functions to send you back to the previous page.

@rootSep 19.2016 — EDGE is a terrible browser, thats all to say on the subject.

As for opening, generally the same old right click >>> open with >>> Microsoft Edge does the trick.

@MiaCharlotteSep 21.2016 — firefox and chrome both browsers are compatible with local file host. you can run your webpage on locally in both browser.

I do that now. The question was how to do the same thing with 'Edge'.

Answer is: You cannot. Need a 3-step selection process rather than just 'Ctrl-O'.

    Success!
