How do I run my own free domain/dns service in php?

Hello

I am curious to know how can I run my own service that offers free domain and dns service just like [url=http://www.registry.cu.cc/]CU.CC – Free Domain Registration + Free DNS Service.[/url] does?

Any help will be appreciated.

Suppose I already own a domain abc.com

I want to offer a free sub-domain service to my users so that they can have a sub-domain like

mike.abc.com also they should be able to update DNS similar to what cu.cc offers.

How can I do it?

I'm not technically proficient enough to answer your query, but as no one else has replied, I'll offer a few comments:

  • 1. Most hosting services are asymmetric, i.e. the download may be 10 x or so faster than the upload speed. This is fine if you are connecting a web client to a server, but not so good if you want to act as a server.


  • 2. Some web hosts allow sub-domains, others may not. If they do allow sub-domains, they may require you to be on a more expensive hosting package...


    • So i'd say: check with your web host.
