Navigation bars.

Hi,

I have literally just be starting to design a site today. I have built the basic blocks but am now wonering if i made the right choice along the way. i have created the manu bar to be along the left hand side. as the page is scrolled the navigation moves. do you think the navigation bars look good at the side or are they better along the top and do you think it is a good idea to have the navigation bar slide down the page.

Just wondering about other peoples thoughts really so any comments would be good.

Do you think the first bit with the "loading.." looks alright. i included it because it takes a few seconds for all the divs to align and it looks really bad otherwise.

Relying on javascript to generate navigation is about the worst thing one can do to a web site.

"Loading..." message prompts most users to reach for the "Back" button.
