Javascript #@$&*#% up my site!

I have a poll on a website I created. I commissioned someone to create the poll for me. It is cgi-perl based. I did want a pop up window to open when someone took the poll to thank them or tell them they can’t vote more than once. In order to do all that the person who made it gave me a javascript to insert the poll into my web pages.

Now this script is making my pages wait to appear until everything is loaded, all pictures and everything. I see a blank white page for seconds then the entire web page pops up complete.

Why? What can be done about it?

The person who created the poll suggests server-side-includes to remedy this situation, but I am skeptical at this point.

Could someone help me with this?

@AdamGundryMay 24.2004 — Server-side includes or some other server-based method of including the content would be a much better solution. It doesn't require the user to have Javascript and should avoid the delay.
