MP3.com is (almost) standards compliant!

I’ve been waiting for over six months for MP3.com to come back online and was geeked to find out they’ve gone XHTML 1.0 Transitional with a CSS layout.

It’s not too bad, but… it still renders in quirks mode in Mozilla because they forgot the <meta> tag content type declaration 😮

Oh well. Looks good. One more convert… excellent.

@JonaMay 24.2004 — Awesome! I've seen a few articles at Builder.com that promote the use of CSS based design and accessibility - hopefully all of CNET's sites will head in that direction.

@PeOfEoMay 26.2004 — right now the code on www.download.com is almost stereotypical. www.lycos.co.uk went css a while back, that was one of the first major web hosts to go css i think, but they are still far from being standards compliant.

@PeOfEoMay 26.2004 — stopdesign redid blogger, didn't know that, big supprised, it is as valid as lycos  . But its a strict format and has fewer errors so I guess it is somewhat better. I do not think they did lycos, but they did do weird news, which is valid xhtml trans.

@Sux0rZh_jc0rzMay 27.2004 — stopdesign normally checks out their designs on like every browser they can. so even if it's invalid, it works for pretty much everybody and/or fails gracefully.

I don't see whats so hard about it if you already are using xhtml and css, whats the big deal, I mean what do you have to do, put it an alt tag here and there?
