Website rebuild SEO HELP!

I made a new website to replace a old website and i need to keep the SEO rank and not mess it up. I was thinking of making the old website pages redirect to the new website.

would that work.

in the directory i would have the old website

index.html
services.html
contact.html

etc

then i would have a folder names n (for new)

and all the old pages would redirect to the website in the n folder

makes sence

would that be a good idea? or will it mess up the whole SEO rank?

@brknnyMar 28.2016 — If the url structure has changed then there is a chance of loosing rankings.And if you have already build backlinks for the old urls then you need to redirect those to the new urls to avoid 404 error.You need to start building backlinks for the new urls as well.

so you say its possible to do this but if i make sure to redirect it properly and make sure there is no missing links?
