How to find un-used pages, images etc?

Hi

I have a large, messy website. It’s full of stuff that isn’t used any more — for example images, background gifs and pages that aren’t used any more.

The trouble is, I simply cannot identify them, other than by going through the site page by page and listing every image and then deleting all the rest. That will take ages and I don’t have the time or the patience.

I wondered if there is a program that can identify what images are actually on your active webpages and which are not.

Sorry for the dumb question.
