Need help with adding libraries / rails / bower

Hi,

I’m trying to use bower to load this library into my Rails 4.2 app.

I installed bower to talk with rails, creating separate files in my “bower_components” folder (i.e. bootstrap, jquery, bootstrap-social, font-awesome).

I’ve also tried to follow the install instructions here, but no luck..

I’ve tried to use this directly into my application.html.erb:
<link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/bootstrap-social/4.12.0/bootstrap-social.css“>
<link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”bower_components/bootstrap-social/bootstrap-social.css”>

No luck..

I’ve also tried importing directly into my “custom.css.scss” file:
@import ‘bootstrap-social/bootstrap-social.css’;

Can someone help me figure out the easiest (not taxing on your site’s speed) way to load/use libraries? This is confusing me a little bit..
