Advanced application idea

Hello all

I am new to web development but am a very keen and fast learner. I have an idea for a web based application that allows content creators (streamers, bloggers, gamers) to advertise their content and showcase what they have released on other pages eg. YouTube, Twitch, Twitter etc… This application aims to improve on creator discovery and growth as well as fan interaction.

My question to you is: What is the best way to go about creating an application like this, what software would I need and what programming language(s) will I have to learn to create it.

So far I have a pretty detailed set of notes on how I would like for the app to look and work.

@jedaisoulJan 19.2016 — Hi and a belated welcome to the site. Your query is not easy for us to deal with, which may be why it has not attracted any replies. We generally help with technical issues that arise in the development or implementation of a site.

One question: How do you know that an app will be required (as opposed to a web site)? I.e. What additional functionality will the app provide? Oh, and if additional functionality IS required, how will you ensure that the app supports it?

@ArthourauthorJan 20.2016 — Hi! Thanks for the welcome and since posting this thread I have started learning HTML CSS and C# to form a ASP.NET app.

Most of the functionality will be in consolidating data from different social media sources onto one readable page. I still don't yet know weather a web app will be required or just a page though I wanted to implement a fluid and animated UI for people to find usage more interesting. I understand that Facebook has its own built in system for extracting page feeds and most other web pages support RSS feeds.

@NogDogJan 20.2016 — Where provided, you'd probably want to work with a source site's API -- if it has one. It may require you to register a developer's account with it or such. This probably gives you the most efficient access to the desired content, though of course each API is likely to be different, so you'll have to do some amount of custom coding for each such site.
