Google, are you hiking me or pitching me back with your HTTPs update?

As per the recent Google update on the search rank preference of https over http (https://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.in/2015/12/indexing-https-pages-by-default.html), I thought of redirecting all my sites to https.

But it pulls me back because I could see some information that, https can lead to a loss in rankings and loss of referral data.

So, I’m in a dilemma whether to move on with https or not. Can anybody suggest an amicable solution for this?

How about using Meta refer tag for this?
