popup window is prevented by slideshow ck. how to work around?

On a home page we have Slideshow CK and now we have to place a popup, that supposed to be displayed first thing the page loads. The popup does not show up unless we remove the block with Slideshow CK (we are using Joombla as an editor).
Any suggestions for the work around would be greatly appreciated!
