enter problem

I have a jsp page and I am using a simple javascript which like
document.FormName.FieldName.value=”<%=request.getParameter(ParamName)%>”

ParamName is a text area that user writes something in it. Problem is, if user press enter buton and go to new line while writing in textarea I can insert the value in the database but when I want to see the value on the page it gives javascript error saying undelimited string constant because the value becomes something like

value=didi
flee;

do you know how to correct enter buton results???

@nshiellApr 16.2004 — I'm don't no PHP but can't you change the textarea to an input box like <input type="texr" name="enterText">

if you use an input field as opposed to a textarea the user can't use returns.
