I don’t know how, can someone explain

I am working on a 16 team playoff bracket, see :
http://www.bray.com/apps/traveller/mm-bracket-02.cfm

I think an example will explain what I am asking.

Select Kentucky in the first pair and Washington in the second pair. These two winners will be written to the second round. now select Kentucky in the second round. This will write them to the third round. Now go back and select Florida A&M instead of Kentucky in the first round it will change Kentucky in the second round, but will leave Kentucky still in the third round. What I want is for the Kentucky in the third round (and any farther out) to clear. I hope that makes sense.

I will want this to happen with all teams at all levels. There are sixteen teams in this case, but there will be four brackets with final four and finals listed as well.

I just don’t know javascript well enough to do what I want, thus I’m asking here for help.

Thanks

@TageMar 31.2004 — I really don't see any javascript inside your .cfm file to help you with. It's like a server-side script then or something right? Anyway, I'm going to sleep, later.

@jkgivenauthorMar 31.2004 — currently there is next to no script. That is my question, how to go about doing what I am asking. Once I get an idea of what I need to do then I can start moving on it.

@TageMar 31.2004 — Oh... well, I'll get back to you on that if no one answers it by the time I get back on...

@TageApr 02.2004 — I made an example of one way it could work if you still need an example. X.x Sorry it took so long, I've been busy with school. Sorry if my instructions seem a little confusing. I try my best. = Hope this helps...

@jkgivenauthorApr 05.2004 — Your suggestion is closer, but not exactly what I was looking form. If teams have been picked, and then a change is made in an earlier round any entries for that team in following rounds should be cleared not changed to new team.

Also, your coding only accounts for if a user changes a team in the first round, but it needs to do the same thing if they change a team in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round.

I really appreciate your help. My javascript knowledge is VERY weak so I'm having a tough time deciphering, but I guess that is how I learn.

Again, thanks for your time.

@TageApr 08.2004 — Err, you're right. It's buggy, lol. I'll look into it, sorry for not replying sooner. The power supply in my computer blew and sparks flew out the back and stuff. X.x I'm using someone else's computer until I get mine fixed. So, I'll get back to you asap.

@Paul_JrApr 08.2004 — There doesn't seem to be any problem... I select Kentucky for the first, second, and third rounds, then change my selection at the very beginning, and all subsequent selections are changed accordingly.

@steelersfan88Apr 08.2004 — i also did not find a problem, howver, the radio buttons start as checked when the next round shows up, I think it should be unchecked, since having it checked should show the following round, but it does not.

@TageApr 15.2004 — Right, they should be unchecked. However, to encounter the problem jkgiven is talking about you have to select a different team NOT from the first table after you select all the Kentucky's. Example: Select all the kentucky's, then select washington on the first table, then select washington on the second table. I still haven't gotten much of a chance to look into this after the day I replied. =| I might look into it later tonight.

@jkgivenauthorMay 03.2004 — Just posting a response in hopes of bringing this up to the top to see if any more help might be forthcoming.

Thanks
