Refresh a specific line of code and not the whole page

I have created a windows gadget that plays a radio stream I am involved in. I have got the stream to work and also the images to change at specific times of day.
The only problem is that every minute the image updates the radio stream stops.
What can be done to make the stream still play and image change.

its probably something simple i done wrong but cannot figure it out

the problem seem to be with the line in radio.html
<img id=”personality” src=”” alt=”” style=”position:absolute; z-index:-999″ />

It is how to refresh this specif line without refreshing the whole page.
