"Web Design By" links should be "nofollow" according to John M.

I Found this on another forum, am here sharing for Web Developer Members. What You Guys think about this.

Based on a recently video here, John M recommends making all of our “web design by” credit links “nofollowed”.

I guess this kind of looks at things like with regards to unnatural links, for example.

And from our point of view, these kind of links, by default, are things where the webmaster doesn’t really place the link explicitly on their own.
So what’s going on? Is this another attempt by G to try and stem the flow of PR (which by the way we have no idea where site pages stand on PR these days) or is this an attempt to pass on a warning. If it’s a warning of sorts, I’ll bet there are at least hundreds, and potentially thousands of “designed by” credit links that a designer could accumulate over the years that could come into play.

@amit_ncodeMar 11.2015 — Yes. All links in the footers which defined with "Design By" or "Developed By" should be "nofollow". It's good as it's not editorial link which should give seo benefit to the designer or developer. And if designer or developer wants to take credit of the work they had done, they can put a link with nofollow which can give them credit as well as they don't get seo benefit from the link.

@amit_ncodeMar 11.2015 — I suggest you should nofollow your current credited links too. We can not say surely that the exiting links will affect your SERPs or not. But precaution is always better than cure. So you should go with the expert's tips given in seroundtable.

Yup, You may be correct. But if i don't have any permission to edit those links, what would be your answers. SO actual precaution would be Use No Follow Credit Links for Upcoming New Domain and Website.

@kmoinuMar 13.2015 — Thanks for posting about this. It's honestly not something I've even thought about.
