@Steve_R_JonesmoderatorJan 12.2015 — Hopefully you already know this... But for example if your web site is about Birds... If you were to post back links on sites about computers or automobiles, you will get penalized. Google will think you are spamming the computer and automobile sites.

Have you checked that Sitemap.xml is added to Webmasters, Which is your targeting Area ? Doing all the things which you mentioned are not only factors today that will give you better SERP. Try to get more user generated contents on your website. Add reviews, star ratings and testimonial to pages and try to build links to reputed websites only that falls as per your category. Do not go for spam links.. Release some PR`s, do brand promotion. you will see good results for sure..

@Number1Jan 20.2015 — But what is clear is that the closer the rankings come to putting the user together with what they want, the better for that search engine. So, keep in mind who is ultimately going to benefit and write content for them. While I wouldn't ignore SEO, I wouldn't make 2nd guessing Google an important part of my strategy, as they are sensitive to that and it violates their own interests in providing accurate appraisals to the end users if you succeed. Content uber alles.

@rajaroraJan 20.2015 — Hi,

I agree with the reply of all the above users. Just want to include following few points:

Check your keyword analysis. May be you are using generic keywords or keywords which your users don't use while searching for your website.

Don't create anchor text which is keyword specific. Try to use long tail keywords

Update content on regular basis

Do industry niche submissions - social bookmarking, forum posting and blog commenting, etc

In case of forum posting and blog commenting - don't leave links in your post at the end. Google will consider this spam

Check your on page activities on website. May be you are missing something there.

Post latest news on your website blog which will engage your users

@marineleeJan 21.2015 — Hello Members,

In my opinion you should first check your website on-page and then do off page activities to get backlinks but this is time consuming.

But if you want quick results then one of the best way to increase organic ranking is with an aggressive PPC campaign and paid marketing.

I hope this information is useful for all.

Thanks!!!

@Elena21Jan 23.2015 — Use the meta description tag, and use well-written content. Then, backlink to your content. It's a gradual process that takes some time, but the more GOOD content you add and link to, the higher you'll go.Or you can hire an expert for this from sites like SEOclerks.

@RoopatgJan 27.2015 — It might be because of high competitions. Are you working on short tail keywords or long tail keywords? Single term keywords would take long time to get ranked on first page.
Copy linkTweet thisAlerts:
@ered_mithrinJan 27.2015 — I agree with Roopatg, the speed in which you're getting in the SERP is also dictated by the competitiveness of the keywords you're trying to rank for. It's hard to guess why you're still on the 4th page - there's too many variables. You might be linking from different websites, but how does your link profile look in Google's eyes? Are you linking from related websites, are you using different anchor texts, are you linking to different pages on your domain etc.?
