booking appointments

Hi, I would like some advice about the website I would like to develop.

The core functionality I am after is a booking process which allows for customers to select a venue (from a list), choose a startdate and the number of days, and enter the details of the attendees. Ideally the details will be stored in a small secure database which can be accessed remotely. Functionality needs to be able to update the details.

I have not yet decided on any website tool or technology but I would like to get it for free or as cheap as possible so any advice will be most appreciated.

I also have some coding experience so I am happy to dive in to the deep end.
