Convert ‘onmouseove’r to ‘onclick’

I hope this is the right forum for this.

Some of you may be familiar with [URL=”http://www.walterzorn.de/en/tooltip/tooltip_e.htm”]Walter Zorn[/URL] who made some simple and effective hover tooltips. I’ve used the tooltips now and then but with the proliferation of touch devices I’ve read and had feedback from some that the hover function doesn’t work that well on phones, pads, etc. Is there a simple way of converting hover to click/push or perhaps a media query where I could leave the hover on a large monitor screen and then have it go to push/click at around 768? Or, I can have it onclick for the large screen too if that makes it easier. I’m figuring this is done in the .js file since I’m not sure if it can be done in CSS. I’m sure Zorn himself would have readily answered this question but he passed away in 2009.
