sound problem

im sure this has been posted on here before. but i am trying to put this small 13 second wav file on my site well it wont load it just hangs. it says it is loading but it takes forever. should i use a different format or what. i am using
<bgsound src=”filename.wav”>

also should i not use bgsound? any help is very appreciated

@steelersfan88Mar 15.2004 — your other option would be to use a hidden embed file that has autostart enabled. How big is the sound? 13 seconds should be less than 300 KB, so it shouldn't take so long, not sure why it does. You could try and make the sound a midi file, .mid since that doesn't require nearly as much memory to cache before playing.

@steelersfan88Mar 15.2004 — i kno, but some sounds, especially 13 seconds, are sounds that the computer can generate. I know my friend has eminem theme music in midi format, and that could easily be downloaded as mp3 or wav

@abkillaauthorMar 15.2004 — well i checked the file out of curiousity and haha well it is 1.12mb in size. i dont understand why it is so large. is there a way i could cut that down and make it smaller. could the wav format be making it so large?

8.000 kHz, 8 bit, mono 7kb/sec

to

8.000 kHz, 16 bit, mono 15kb/sec

and now it is only 209 kbs
