Sound Avice !!

Hi, ALL Im new to the site so if this is the format used many apologies. i have a sound problem. I am tryingto add two maybe three sound files to my HTML page. (its actually on a Ebay selling page) And after Ive added the bg sound etc etc and the correct HTTP addres and then finally the Vol and Loop believe it or not the sound plays either a song, mp3, au or wav file format.

However because I have 2 or 3 sounds they ALL start together and there is a greta jumble of sounds. Can someone please tell me the bext way to delay the sound or hold it back for a few second. That can be switched on and off like you would with a and

Does that make sense is it doable????

@PeOfEoMar 13.2004 — my suggestion is not to use sounds or music in any way shape or form on your website unless they are part of a flash into / movie / or game. Flash is the only time I find it acceptable and only when it is in a funny cartoon! Otherwise it interfearing with my winamp tics me off. I have been listening to iced earth, blind guardian, mortification, savior machine, and other new and old metal / hair music, beeps and screeches from websites do not mix well with it.

@Dark_DragonMar 13.2004 — Well..I think you can only have on item as a bg background sound...the others will either have to be effects for events like a button being pressed or as separate players that are activated by the user at his discetion.

I sometimes like a background music..but I also like it when there is a ready option to turn it on or off and stay off as one navigates the site.

I hate it always from a developer's standpoint. I think it is a waste of bandwidth because often the user will not want it there, and they are still downloading it. If the majority does not want to download it then it is just wasteful.

I was not saying all background music is tasteless and terrible. I was saying that I think it is a waste of bandwidth.... I generally think background music on sites sucks too... though I have found it good once or twice, like on www.djsammy.com (dj sammy rules, only tecno I can listen too and enjoy!) But you can turn this off of course.

@Escort16authorMar 13.2004 — Hi thanks all for all the help so far - most appreciatted. maybe I didnt explain very well I can put many sounds onto a site ( the ebay selling site) and have no problems with them playing. Some sounds even work well together. IE thunder and lighteneing and a wolf howling in the background set as two wav's.

But............sometimes again only as an example . If I was selling a book 'old macdonald had a farm' I would like to set five animal looping 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 etc but to space the time between them so they dont all go together. Making sounds like a sinking Ark. "noah".

@PeOfEoMar 13.2004 — Well if they are going to be looped and played why wouldn't you just edit them all together? I mean put them all together in gold wave, or better yet slap em together with fruity loops (I know you probably do not have this software) then just loop the 1 mp3 which the individual sounds spaced accordingly within it. It would be a much easier and more precise method to get the timeing correct.

@spufiMar 13.2004 — Have music set to off as a default. Give the user the option of turning it on if they want. Give them a way to turn it off. That is all. ?
