Multi-threading aleternatives

Hi,

I have tried with pthreads and it seems pthreads extension is not installed and I do not have access to server administration for installing same.

I am looking for alternatives and if anyone of you are aware about effective alternatives please let me know.

I am developing an application which works with several web services and its currently taking a long time to process, So I am intending to improve performance through possible multithreading.
