Script Calendar problem – need help please!

Hi all,

I have recently downloaded the Script Calendar from JavaScript Source but am having a few teething problems. I cannot seem to get any events to display that are after the 10th of the month. This goes for the example dcEvents.js file as well, because the Halloween event, the Valentine’s Day event, etc. do not display.

Maybe I’m being dumb but can someone help me please.

Thanks
Anne

Help us help you by providing your code sample.

@Anne_GilbertauthorMar 07.2004 — Thanks for the pointer. I downloaded the modified code but that doesn't appear to work at all!

I have attached my dcEvent.js file to this posting (have had to modify it to a .txt file to allow this). I would appreciate alittle further help. The dchtmlcal.js file is as downloaded from the JavaScript Source site. I can post it here if necessary.

Thanks

Anne

@Anne_GilbertauthorMar 07.2004 — I may have spoken too soon! It seems that my computer didn't like renaming the .txt file to be a .js file but when I made the same changes to my own .js file it worked. Apologies to the person who posted the file, and thanks to those who responded so wuickly.

@nbohr99Jun 16.2004 — The javascript in question is the ScriptCalendar software available at http://www.scriptcalendar.com

It is definitely wrong to modify and repost the authors work as well as a violation of copyright law.

@PittimannJun 18.2004 — Hi nbohr99!In fact, there is a license agreement on the website

Two things concerning that:

First: The people to whose thread you started posting recently, haven't downloaded their calendar from that site and thus had no chance to read that agreement.

Second: Even if you go to http://www.scriptcalendar.com and read the start page, then click the "download the demo now" link, you will not find any hint that you must have read and agreed to the license stuff.

Why did the author put his script on a site for free scripts without mentioning that it is only a demo with limited features?? For sure he did so to advertise his product. But it is HIS fault not to mention that it is a demo and a user having downloaded the FREE calendar script has the right to ask for help when he/ she finds out that it is not working properly. Because that is the only thing obvious to the user. The script doesn't work as promised and nowhere in the files you can donload from various free scripts sites it is mentioned that modifications of the code must not be made.

I would suggest that the author takes away his script from sites for free downloads.

Cheers - Pit
