Login Redirect question

Hi,

I have an html server, and i need to make a login page that
sends the values received to another page, which first checks if the user is a valid user, if this is a valid user – then we must redirect the page based on who logged in else – take them back to the login page. Any ideas as to how this would happen? or how i would do this?

All help will be appreciated.
