How to code a save file for clients

Good morning,

I want to code a client management software. I thought about to code it in PHP or Java. Each one has got his advantages. My Java skills are very basic. I can write a GUI but for my work I need to know how to code a save file (for clients). Please enter some code in which i can see a save function. Keep in mind that the user are not be able to read the save file.
