<a> tag problem

Hello,
I have a JQ fade effect in my website that work on <a> tag.
when I click the <a> tag, it goes up and you cannot see the fade effect.
the <a> tag is in a <div> tag, so I did this:
<a href=”#BLA”>
assuming that the div class name is “BLA”, yes?

believe or not, it actually works. when I click the link, it stays in the same place.
but… when I click on the <a> link, in the URL address it add the “#BLA”.
it also make the favicon (the left icon in the tabs) change.

What can I do?
