Changing class with Javascript

Hello,

I’m currently designing a HTML 5 video. The code below works, however instead of showing “pause” and “play” I would like to show different classes within each. For example I would like to show .play when the video is paused and .pause when the video is playing.

I have searched the web and non of the advice works.

Any help would be much appreciated.
