XHTML and Anchor Targets

Is the target attribute in anchor tags depreciated for xhtml? I would like to spawn a new window so I used target=”_new”, is that not correct anymore?

@PhillMcFeb 09.2004 — hmm, I never really saw it that way. I just recently started webDev (but have know HTML for a while), but now I can see that it would be annoying if I went to a site and EVERYTHING was new window. Thanks Fred ?
