Need help with an issue regarding floats and clearing

I’m working on rolling out my own CSS framework and ran into an issue. If anyone has a few mins to take a look? I’d love any ideas or thoughts.
I explain what the issue is on this page but let me know if anything isn’t clear.

@dtm32236authorJan 30.2013 — edit: someone suggested adding [B]position: absolute[/B] to the left div. This works - now I'm just trying to figure out if there are any serious fallbacks to this.

Also, how the hell do I edit the original post? ?

@simplypixieJan 31.2013 — I would suggest that the easiest option is to place all your left hand divs in another containing div and that will resolve your current issue.
