Cake PHP Set-Up Help

I’m trying to get a CakePHP application to work on a website and I just can’t get any files to display. The site is set up on a shared hosting account and the location of the CakePHP files is located in a folder in the site root called “Controls”.

I have the following .htaccess configured in /controls

RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /controls
RewriteRule ^{^$} app/webroot/ [L]
RewriteRule (.*) app/webroot/$1 [L]

When I go to where this application should begin at [url]www.mysite.com/controls[/url] it just shows a blank white page. When I change the RewriteBase in the above .htaccess file to anything other than what it is, it returns a 404 error.

Anyone familiar with CakePHP and know what might be the issue??
