I wish to load a new window from an existing page, this is no problem. However, I want to have the new window free from tollbars etc and to be of a smaller size than a normal window ( for example 250*450). The site is primarily an image site and I wish for the new window to be used as a navigation menu….plz anyone help…..V.iru.S

@PeOfEoJan 29.2004 — That sounds like a bad idea man. Trying to have a separate window for navigation is just going to cause problems and make your site non user friendly. Plus for everyone without java script it will not work (thats 13% of the internet) and you will be left with no navigation.

@Aronya1Jan 30.2004 — That would make for a very annoying site. I'd leave it quickly if I found myself there. What's the idea you have in mind? Maybe someone can suggest an alternative.

@PeOfEoJan 30.2004 — A server side include of an iframe might be in order here if he wants what I think he wants. Javascipt for navigation between windows... sounds like a lot of code too.

@v_iru_sauthorJan 30.2004 — Well, the idea is for a site to be used in Halsofts VP Chat world, I currently have a javascript menu running. The idea was to keep the chatter logged into the chat room whilst letting them browse through the avatars in seperate windows..I wish to have only one menu to update when new pages are added, like one reference point outside the welcome page to navigate the rest of the site....I hope ya can understand my gibberish...it makes sense to me...LoLhttp://innovative-illusions.vze.com

@PeOfEoJan 30.2004 — You can keep a user login and store data from the chat room in data bases server side. Loose java script. Do not use it for that menu either. Java script is bad, infact just forget it exists. It is not bery accessable, and it lags up the site for users. To keep the user update with data, you just store a login time for the user when they login to your site (this is probably going to be over your head). Then if the chat is data base driven just store the post time for each post or whatever. The when the user goes back to the chat page get all of those posts after the login time. I am waiting for you to say "what, I do not understand?", but I am just illistrating another way of doing it that would be more efficient and more accessable. Unofortunatly you would need to make the chatroom yourself if you do this, hard code it (server side scripts, maybe applets for smoothness, and data bases)
