Trouble creating an array of strings…

Hey, I want to create an array of strings and give that to a variable, kinda like so:

[code=php]
$arrayvar = array(“string1”, “string2”, … , “stringN”);
[/code]

But when I do that it tells me that I have a <B>”parse error”</B>… WHY?
