innerHTML help needed

i am using to write into a <TD> a code like this :

[code=php]<img style=’cursor:hand’ onClick=’javascript:OpenCloseSubGroup(this)’ src=’arrowown.gif’>[/code]

know when i press on that image the function show’s me that i have sent it an object!
but when i ask it’s id (which the <TD> has an id!!!) i get
nothing!!!!!
1)why is that and how can i solve the problem?
2)how can i get the <TR> of that <TD> id?
