Whats a Optimal Template size for Website?

Hi Everyone,

Im new to the forum and I had a basic question. I know there is no set size and I’ve been searching on the net for this answer for awhile but many them are from 2005-2008 and nothing recent.

Im starting to get familiar with html and planning to build my own site. I purchased an online template and its using 1280×1024 pixel size. The site is already done in Photoshop (PSD) and I just need to upload it to the server using Dreamweaver.

So does anyone have a preference on a template size? Is better to choose a bigger size rather a small one since it will be troublesome to read the letters and people will just leave your site? Thank you for any advice!?

Good work you done dear and no need to change the size.

But first of try it on every browser. If it capable on every browser so upload it.
