POST checkbox array

I submit 5 check boxes of a form in an array to another php file.

When I examine length of the array in receiver php file,
count($_POST[‘myarray’]) is not 5, but equivalent to count of check-boxes selected.

Any method to show real length of myarray, other than selected count?

Thanks.

@g0dzuki99May 18.2012 — HTML checkboxes are kind of bastards like that. They only "post" if they are checked... so if you have 5 boxes and only 4 have checks, your count() will be 4. As far as the array, that is the real value.

You could trick it with something like:
<input type="hidden" name="checkbox" value="unchecked"/>
<input type="checkbox" name="checkbox" />
That way (and this is kind of ugly, btw) a value for $_POST['checkbox'] will always be present. Server side you could check if it's 'unchecked' or 'on' - knowing that "unchecked" is the default value and hasn't been clicked, if it's "on" you know a user checked it.
