Editor removes my css ontop page, soon as I go back to the coding

Hi, the editor kompozer moves the css that I put in the head section,
I leave and go into design to check the page, then when I go back to the html code. then the css is gone. And it doesnt work anyway. Only html.
Ontop the page it says htm doctype strict, not the transitional one.
Should I be using the strict and if not how do I change it.
If anyone can help, thanks

@spufiApr 23.2012 — By CSS, do you mean actual CSS or the externally linked version? If it is actual CSS, you should have it externally linked anyway. No clue on the changing of Doctypes, but there might be a setting set that makes it expect the strict one.

Here's the markup for an external source of CSS
<i>
</i>&lt;link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="styles.css" /&gt;

Now use make a .css file named styles in the same folder as your code is in with only CSS in it.

I would also look into using a better editor like Komodo, or the PHP version of Eclipse. Both are free.

@wildguy2authorApr 24.2012 — Hi spufi, thanks, maybe its time to try another editor like eclipse as you said, thanks. just hope it downloads, cause I tried and thought I downloaded coffee cup, it used a lot of megabytes, but then I couldnt find it anywhere on the laptop, so I dont think it downloaded, unless its hiding somewhere, but Ill never find it, Ive got to many files now.

@spufiApr 24.2012 — Anything downloaded should be in your Downloads folder if you are on Windows.

@Major_PayneApr 24.2012 — It's better to preview your edit in the browser. All you have to do is refresh after making your edits and saving them. All WYSIWYG Editors recode when you use their Visual/Preview mode. CoffeeCup's allows you to use shortcut keys to open the browser tab with your page in it. Mine (paid version) uses F9 for browser and F12 for split view.
